Katy Hodgkins

I peer out into a blue, cloudless sky, but I am drenched with rain and hail.
Webs of caliche with forceful parallel lines, warn me to never stray
from my side, but I cannot do so.
High in the mountains above my head, where the center peaks are still fluid
and unclaimed, a paragon of crevasses, each with depth space. Inside those
chasms where quarrelling is in abundance, a frenzy of equations sacrifice
layer after layer, built up by death and begginnings.
In every pit of liveliness, a premature universe is still being born. As the abyss, likely and able to birth a child, that will be encumbered with ideas, kenetic creations, and secrets of the core. No matter how many of my days I spend emersed in these equations. Tossing my brain from yellow pigment to magenta - a short distance and time. Comprehension can only move my absorbing eye and graze the field where those pigments began. From the sex crazed flower, to the weary, withered foliage - without penetration of its enigma its center. Because we live in constant question, I wonder how all the capabilities of destruction, connect to form relationships that can leap from air itself. Because we question, shapes and jagged angles erupt from the belly of a broken flighted butterfly - his wings snapped because of the impact from behind. Or the murky minded couple beating body parts in every direction. Colliding against one another with putrid snarls burnt into the raging, crimson outer organ that lines their crackled lips. In this vast space of thriving, everything is not what it appears. A gentle point on a blue birds' beak, can meet - recede down his throat, but then be regurgitated back into a million centers, or a thousand red starlings.

17 year old Katy Hodgkins was born February 25th 1990 in the beautiful
Texas Hill Country. Although Katy's painting style is ever-changing, she has
a very unique approach - "It is otherworldly" - Johann Eyefells. "She
definately knows how to use a brush" - Eugene Smith. Katy had her first
art show during the month of February '07 at Spirit Wind Java in Ingram, Texas, and it was a big success! Everyone loved her art, and it really gave Katy
the desire, courage, and enthusiasm to further pursue her artwork. She has
been inspired by nature and the georgeous land all over the Texas Hill Country Region. Katy is a beautiful spirit, full of life with a burning desire to make a
difference in this world. I think you will agree, after seeing her artwork - She is going to make a big difference! In addition to being a visual artist, Katy is a
musician - playing fiddle and mandolin, and writes poetry. Katy is home schooled, and is now a senior in High School. Her soul is well beyond her years in
understanding, knowledge, and compassion. Look for great things to come from this awesome young artist!
